Ferrari Challenge Stradale

Ferrari Challenge Stradale, car, automobile

The Ferrari Challenge Stradale is a variation of the Ferrari 360 Modena.
When the car was created, the designers were thinking 20% track use in mind and 80% road use.
And it shows in the performance.
The Challenge Stradale's 90° F131 V8 engine only puts out about 25 more horses (425) than the Modena, but the car is lighter, giving it a superior power to weight ratio.
It has a 0 to 62 mph time of just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 183 mph.
(Although the 2008 version is said to pull 0-60 in 3.9 seconds)
The Stradale can pull the quarter mile in about 12.5 seconds at 114.1 mph.

Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. It is currently a division of the parent company, Daimler AG (formerly DaimlerChrysler AG), after previously being owned by Daimler-Benz. Mercedes-Benz has its origins in Karl Benz's creation of the first automobile in January 1886, and by Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach's conversion of a carriage by the addition of a petrol engine the same year. The Mercedes automobile was first marketed in 1901. The first Mercedes-Benzida brand name vehicles were produced in 1926, following the merger of Karl Benz's and Gottlieb Daimler's companies into the Daimler-Benz company. Mercedes-Benz has introduced many technological and safety innovations that have become common in other vehicles several years later.

The new SLR Stirling Moss is also characterised by the most sophisticated technology and a breathtaking design which reinterprets the SLR legend. With 478 kW/650 hp the SLR Stirling Moss accelerates its V8 supercharged engine from standstill to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 350 km/h – no other series-production car is at the same time so open and so fast. This extreme concept makes the new high-performance sports car a legitimate bearer of the name of the British motor racing legend and Mille Miglia record-holder Stirling Moss, who drove the legendary Mercedes-Benz SLR racing cars from victory to victory in 1955. The exclusive SLR Stirling Moss rounds off the current SLR family and is limited to 75 units. It is priced at 750,000 euros. The SLR Roadster will cease to be manufactured at the end of May 2009 as planned, and production of the SLR Stirling Moss will commence in June 2009.

Peugeot is a major French car brand, part of PSA Peugeot Citroën. Its parent company PSA Peugeot Citroën is the second largest carmaker in Europe, behind Volkswagen.[1] Peugeot's roots go back to pepper, salt and coffee mill manufacturing in 1842 and later bicycle manufacturing at the end of the 19th century. Its world headquarters are in Paris, Avenue de la Grande Armée, close to Porte Maillot and the Concorde Lafayette Hotel but the Peugeot company and family is originally from Sochaux, France. Peugeot retains a large manufacturing plant in Sochaux which is also home to the Peugeot Museum. The company also sponsors the Sochaux football club, founded in 1928 by a member of the Peugeot family: the club' s arms contain a lion logo similar to Peugeot's.

The common French pronunciation of Peugeot is IPA. In Spain, it is peyot (less often, "peuyot"). In the UK (where the cars are occasionally nicknamed 'pugs'), it is usually pronounced /ˈpɜːʒoʊ/ "PERzho" (as per company advertising), although the most common pronunciation in Scotland is "Pyoozhoh", whilst Americans pronounce it pooZHO or PYOOzho. In Malta, some people pronounce "Peugeot" as "poo goo". In those parts of North Africa colonised by France—Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco—"Peugeot" is often pronounced in the same as bijou, both because of the sometimes indistinguishable quality of vowels in Arabic when translated into French, and through affection.

The Peugeot family of Valentigney, Montbéliard, Franche-Comté, France, began manufacturing coffee grinders in the 1800s. Although the Peugeot factory had been in the manufacturing business since the 1700s, the company's entry into the world of wheeled vehicles was by means of crinoline dresses, which used steel rods, leading to umbrella frames, saw blades, wire wheels, and ultimately bicycles. Armand Peugeot introduced his "Le Grand Bi" penny-farthing in 1882 and along with a range of other bicycles. Peugeot bicycles continued to be built until very recently, although the car company and bike company parted ways in 1926.

Armand Peugeot became interested in the automobile early on, and after meeting with Gottlieb Daimler and others, was convinced of its viability. The first Peugeot automobile a three-wheeled steam-powered car designed by Léon Serpollet was produced in 1889; only four were made. Steam power was heavy and bulky and required lengthy warmup times. In 1890, after meeting Gottlieb Daimler and Emile Levassor, steam was abandoned in favour of a four-wheeled car with a petrol-fuelled internal combustion engine built by Panhard under Daimler licence. The car was more sophisticated than many of its contemporaries, with a three-point suspension and a sliding-gear transmission

Rolls-Royce 200EX Concept

2009 Geneva Auto Show Rolls-Royce 200EX Concept

The 200EX concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show gives the design direction Rolls is heading with the car, which will be powered by a new V-12 built by BMW, but only used by the British marque. Rolls says the 200EX/RR4 uses "a unique monocoque body, which is not shared with any other vehicle."

Styling, though, is similar to the Phantom sedan's, from its overwhelming grille to its suicide doors. Sizewise, the 200EX/RR4's 129.7-in. wheelbase, 212.6-in. length and 61.0-in. height are 10.9, 17.1 and 3.3 in. less, respectively, than those of the Phantom. Officials went on to say that 80 percent of the car's components will be exclusive to Rolls-Royce, no doubt trying to separate the RR4 from a presumed BMW 7 Series connection.

The RR4 will be built alongside the four Phantom models in Goodwood, England, with an estimated price of $250,000–$280,000 when it goes on sale in 2010.

Italdesign Giurigaro Namir

2009 Geneva Auto Show Italdesign Giurigaro Namir

Italdesign Giugiaro didn't disappoint at the Geneva Motor Show, revealing a new wedge-shaped hybrid sports-car concept called the Namir. The project was developed in cooperation with British carmaker Frazer Nash.

Besides the Namir's radical styling, what draws attention are Italdesign Giugiaro's claims: To put it simply, the Namir prototype is said to be the fastest yet also the most environmentally-friendly hybrid in the world.

Turin, Italy-based Italdesign Giugiaro says power for the Namir would come from an electric motor in conjunction with a "medium-powered" engine. The result would be a top speed of 186 mph, with 0–62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 4 sec. All this, while achieving a claimed 117.6 mpg with CO2 emissions of just 50 g/km. Of course, those numbers are all theoretical since the Namir is simply a concept at this point.

Zagato Perana Z-One

2009 Geneva Auto Show Zagato Perana Z-One

The Zagato Perana Z-One will see limited production (just under 1000 units with a price upward of $100,000) and was shown with a LS3 6.2-liter V-8 under the hood. The same engine in top trim when fitted to the Corvette LS3 is rated at 435 bhp. Zagato is aiming for 0–60 mph acceleration of about 4 seconds.

The overall shape of the car is striking for its similarity to the Ford Shelby GR-1 concept shown at the North American International Auto Show four years ago. The difference is in the details. The nose of the Perana Z-One is far more Italian in execution, with pontoon style fenders and a front grille opening reminiscent of early Ferrari Testarossas and the 250 GTO. Unlike the Daytona Coupe-like rear end of the GR-1, the Perana Z-One has a more conventional rounded rear with large, hooded taillamps. The fenders feature triangular openings and the hood has a semi-circular vent. And of course, the 2-seater sports Zagato's signature double-bubble roof treatment.

The Hyundai i30 It's got no heritage, I've never seen one before, and there's nary a German engineer in sight. But you know what? It's a strong showing from Hyundai and with a keen price, impressive features and a new look inside and out, it'll make one of life's big decisions even more difficult. Not more than half a dozen years ago informed buyers used to approach the Hyundai brand with caution. "Korean cars are cheap for a reason" people would say. But every year Hyundai cranks out better and better cars. They look smoother, they drive better, and the new i30 is no exception to this trend.

Hyundai Sonata is one of the larger cars of its size and price, primarily by width (both front and rear). The space for the legs in the rear seats is also very good. It sells a single version, without further elements that the optional metallic paint. The Tiburon has been restyled with lower-profile headlamps that give Hyundai's sports coupe a more mainstream Japanese look. Hyundai has also tweaked the top-of-the-line SE model's handling to enhance its appeal to enthusiasts. Hyundai’s sexy, rear-wheel-drive Concept Genesis sports coupe was introduced at the 2007 LA Auto Show. Browse the photos and let us know if the Genesis Concept will be Hyundai’s version of the Acura Type-R for tuners.
